BACK TO SCHOOL

PointsBet Creative

It’s the final day of Pac-12 preview week, and former NFL QB Ryan Leaf and senior editor Max Meyer each have one more pick to share. After diving into win totals, they now choose their favorite Heisman bet among Pac-12 players.

LEAF: Michael Penix Jr. (+1200)

Penix Jr. led the nation in passing yards per game a year ago and all of the key guys on Washington’s offense are still there. He also has a lot of high-profile games to boost his case. If he can beat Caleb Williams and USC in Los Angeles on Nov. 4, that would be a major statement.

MEYER: Dante Moore (+15000)

I think Moore has way too much upside to be sitting at +15000. The 5-star QB looked unbelievable at the All-American Bowl going up against other elite high school prospects. If Moore wins the QB battle (there are reports saying that’s the expectation), he gets to play in a Chip Kelly offense that’s a dream for signal-callers and has finished top-20 in scoring in each of the past three seasons.

UCLA landed incredible weapons in the transfer portal. The Bruins picked up Ball State tailback Carson Steele, who ran for 1,556 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2022 along with 29 catches. They also added two 6’3” stud Pac-12 receivers in J.Michael Sturdivant (Cal) and Kyle Ford (USC). Add in a schedule that gives UCLA a shot at double-digit wins (soft non-conference slate, no Oregon or Washington), and there are reasons to believe that Moore can enter the Heisman mix.

EXPERT PICKS

Ariel Epstein looks to end the week on a high note with a pair of props, while Max Meyer is backing a WNBA team that has been excellent in games following a loss.

THE PROP QUEEN

Marlins SP Braxton Garrett Over 5.5 K’s (-145) [6:40 p.m. ET]
“The Rockies have the MLB’s highest K-rate against lefties. Garrett has gone over his strikeout prop in four of six outings against high K-rate teams.”
Guardians SP Gavin Williams Over 4.5 K’s (-145) [7:10 p.m. ET]
“The Phillies have the ninth-highest K-rate against righties, and have a 26.1% K-rate specifically against Williams’ pitch mix."

THE SENIOR EDITOR

Liberty -9.5 (-115) @ Mystics [7 p.m. ET]
“The Liberty are looking to bounce back after losing to the Wings. Here’s how they fared after their first four losses: 4-0 with an average win margin of 18.3 points. Breanna Stewart and Jonquel Jones should dominate a depleted Mystics frontcourt missing their top bigs (Elena Delle Donne, Shakira Austin).”

WHAT ARE THE ODDS?

PointsBet Creative

Shohei Ohtani is currently the MLB leader in home runs with 35 of them through the Angels’ first 97 games. In Aaron Judge’s record-breaking 2022 campaign, he had 37 in the Yankees’ first 97 contests.

Do you think Ohtani has a chance to top Judge’s 62 homers? Or cross the 50-homer mark for the first time in his career? Now you have the opportunity to wager whether Ohtani will reach various HR milestones this campaign.

PITCH PERFECT ⚽

An epic day is in store for American soccer. USA is hoping to start a World Cup three-peat on the right foot and Lionel Messi will make his debut for Inter Miami CF.

But we want to ramp up the fun even more, so we called on soccer expert Jon Eimer to deliver his best bets for each match.

MATCHUP: USA vs. Vietnam in Women’s World Cup

START TIME: 9 p.m. ET

MATCH RESULT ODDS: USA -25000, Vietnam +8000, Draw +9000

BEST BET: Over 6.5 Goals (+120)

The USWNT will start its campaign for a third consecutive World Cup title against what will undoubtedly be its biggest mismatch of the entire competition. With the total sitting at 6.5 goals and BTTS (Both Teams to Score) NO sitting at -700, this game is going to get ugly. The USWNT is known for not slowing down and starting this competition off with a bang, as we saw the Americans thrash Thailand 13-0 in their last World Cup opener.

MATCHUP: Cruz Azul vs. Inter Miami CF in Leagues Cup

START TIME: 8 p.m. ET

LIONEL MESSI ODDS: Anytime goal scorer -105, first goal scorer +300

BEST BET: Inter Miami moneyline (+120)

While all eyes will be looking at the debut for the Argentinian world class talent, Messi could be playing some limited time. Regardless of how much he plays, expect his team to be pumped up and ready to show the world what this new Miami side can do.
