📈 MARKET MOVERS: Biggest CBB title odds shifts in the past week
🔥 EXPERT PICKS: Our top spread bets from the NBA and CBB
🤔 ASK THE TRADER: Why are so many tourney totals being bet up?
📺 MARQUEE MATCHUP: Bettors taking Colorado State or Virginia?
This market is available to bet at Fanatics Sportsbook in Virginia, Colorado, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Ohio, Maryland, Tennessee, Massachusetts, West Virginia, Vermont, Michigan, Indiana, New York, North Carolina and Iowa.
Which teams have seen noticeable shifts in their national title odds since last Wednesday? Let’s take a peek.
STOCK UP
🏀 UConn (+500 to +400)
The Huskies are aiming to become the first repeat men’s champions since Florida in 2006 and 2007.
🏀 North Carolina (+1900 to +1700)
Even though the Tar Heels didn’t win the ACC tournament, they were able to land the No. 1 seed in the easiest region.
🏀 Gonzaga (+7500 to +5000)
Who wouldn’t be enticed by Gonzaga when the Bulldogs are in the same region as Matt Painter and Rick Barnes?
🏀 New Mexico (+10000 to +7500)
The Lobos are the only double-digit seed to have title odds lower than +10000.
STOCK DOWN
🏀 Kentucky (+2000 to +3000)
The Wildcats have unreal firepower on offense, but can you trust that sieve of a defense?
🏀 Alabama (+2500 to +4000)
Same deal as Kentucky, but with an even better offense and worse defense.
🏀 Duke (+2300 to +3500) Kyle Filipowski is the +150 favorite to be this year’s tournament villain.
🏀 Kansas (+2500 to +4000)
The preseason No. 1 team has fallen off a cliff this month while dealing with injuries to Hunter Dickinson and Kevin McCullar.
EXPERT PICKS
Ariel Epstein is rolling with the favorite for her first men's tournament play, while Ryan Elmalem is taking double-digit chalk in the NBA.
THE PROP QUEEN
Colorado State -3 (-110) vs. Virginia [9:10 p.m. ET]
Colorado State’s veteran group isn’t going to be thrown off by Virginia’s defense, especially with Rams head coach Niko Medved being an offensive mastermind. Virginia has struggled against quality opponents all season long, and I think that’ll be the case again tonight.”
THE GRAPHICS GUY
Magic -12.5 (-110) vs. Hornets [7 p.m. ET]
“The Magic being double-digit favorites used to be jarring, but this season they've taken their game to the next level and are the NBA’s top team at covering spreads. Orlando is 15-3 ATS as a home favorite this season, going against an identity-less Hornets who are 12-22 ATS as road dogs.”

An under-the-radar betting storyline ahead of the start of the tournament? Keep an eye on totals.
There have been 13 totals from Thursday and Friday’s tournament slate that have shifted by at least 2 points from their opener at Fanatics Sportsbook. Yet, 12 of those have been increases while only one (Houston vs. Longwood dropping from 129.5 to 127.5) has decreased 😮.
Why is this the case? We asked college basketball trader Shank Subramani.
ASK THE TRADER: Bookmakers will go for slightly lower totals in tournament settings versus regular season games because they normally get bet down. But totals have been getting bet up all season long because of the new block/charge rule implemented this season, especially after overs were hitting at a 60% clip in November and again at the start of conference play. So while this early movement isn’t a big surprise, we’ll see more shifts today and tomorrow with higher limits.
MAKING MOVES: In the first play-in game between No. 10 seeds, Colorado State opened as a 1.5-point favorite and has swung to -3 👀. The total has moved around quite a bit as well. It started off at 120 and was first bet down to 118.5. Now it’s come all the way up to its current position of 121.
TOP PROP: Virginia guard Reece Beekman’s points prop is set at 15.5, and the over has drawn the most handle of any player prop for Colorado State-Virginia. Beekman is averaging 14.3 points on the season, but he’s reached 16 points in four of his past five games.
