EVENT: John Deere Classic (Thurs-Sun)
WHY WE’LL WATCH: Without a clear favorite, this PGA Tour event is truly up for grabs. Plus viewers can do some scouting for next week’s Open (Royal Liverpool).
COURSE INFO: TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois is a 7,257-yard par 71. Designed by Illinois native D.A. Weibring, the course is built on an old horse farm and is challenging yet playable. The course has no real estate, giving it an old-time feel, and features a risk-reward layout with its small ponds, deep ravines and hardwood trees.
FAVES: Russell Henley (+1500) is the slight favorite with Denny McCarthy and Cameron Young (both +1600) right behind him. No one else is below +2800.
BET TO CONSIDER: Henley Top 20 Finish (-115)
Henley’s on a roll with eight top-20 finishes in his last nine starts. He’s also 11th in total strokes gained over the last three months and finished as high as second here in 2019, so he should stand out in a thin field.
