How dire is the Jets’ quarterback situation? Believe it or not, the market thinks the Jets’ new starting QB is worse than Zach Wilson … by multiple points 😮.
New York was a 7.5-point home underdog to the Dolphins 🐬 on Monday morning. The Jets then decided to give the starting nod to Tim Boyle and the line currently resides at Jets +9.5.
How is it possible that any QB is a noteworthy downgrade from Wilson? We called on trader Ethan Useloff to help explain.
ASK THE TRADER: We opened this spread at -6.5 after Miami’s lackluster offensive performance against the Raiders and key injuries to Tyreek Hill and De’Von Achane. It was immediately bet up to -7.5 and then the line starting ticking up again right before the Jets announced the QB switch. Even with Wilson’s struggles, the market views Boyle as worse because he hasn’t shown much promise in college or the pros. He’s lost all three of his NFL starts and threw 26 INTs to just 12 TDs while in college at UConn and Eastern Kentucky.
