Opening Day ⚾ is two weeks away, so let’s check out the latest MLB award futures action at Fanatics Sportsbook.
The Orioles (+1200) haven’t just been a popular bet for World Series futures, where they’re fist in tickets at 17.4%. Two Orioles players have received the most bets to win awards as well, with Corbin Burnes (+900) taking home 22.7% of the AL Cy Young wagers and Jackson Holliday (+300) collecting 27.9% of AL Rookie of the Year bets.
The one major award where an Oriole isn’t the top ticket-getter is AL MVP, where Seattle’s Julio Rodriguez (+1000) at 19.4% has the edge over second-place Gunnar Henderson (+2000) at 14.6%. Rodriguez is dominating in handle for the accolade at 32.3%—the second-highest percentage for any MLB awards market at Fanatics Sportsbook.
If you were curious about who ranks No. 1 in that category, it’s NL Cy Young favorite Spencer Strider (+550). Atlanta’s ace has corralled 37.4% of the handle for the award 😮, more than four times the next-closest pitcher (Justin Steele, who is +1800, at 9.1%). Strider is also first in tickets for NL Cy Young at 20.1%.
There has been quite notable NL MVP action, including a longshot receiving the most bets. Elly De La Cruz has drawn 19.8% of the tickets despite standing all the way at +7000. Bettors are also buying a bounce-back campaign for Fernando Tatis Jr. (+1100), evidenced by him leading in handle at 20.1%. Interestingly, Shohei Ohtani (+700) has not drawn massive NL MVP interest 🤔 since his move to the Dodgers, winding up with 7.8% of the tickets (tied for sixth) and only 3.6% of the handle (seventh).
